![]() Please explain, what is the purpose of this landing card? I see that in this 21st Century digital age, they still enforce this paperwork when Most non EU nationals need to submit a landing card to a UK Immigration officer upon arrival in the UK. Why do they ask for a landing card from non-EU citizens at UK passport control? I read that you have to complete this card, and hand it over to the UK border control along with your passport and visa. my biggest mistake was to fill 6 months on the landing card i am not saying we should like to the io - never lie to the io at it will put you into even more trouble - but saying you want a 6 months visa is a flag for trouble. As the UK uses landing cards, you will need to fill one in if you are a person who is. When you fly from Gibraltar to the UK, you depart Gibraltar's immigration area and then you seek entry to the Common Travel Area. The reason you do not need a landing card in Gibraltar is because Gibraltar immigration control does not use landing cards. As a long-ago naturalised Briton, I have not completed a UK landing card for decades, but I still have to fill one in when going to many other places. Part 2 of this form contains the information usually necessary to enable the UK Border Agency to decide your application for leave to enter. Part 1 of this form replaces the landing card normally completed on arrival in the UK and completion is compulsory. ![]()
